The family story lasting almost half a century

The first lines of brandy history are written on Mount Goc where everything started long before the official founding of the distillery – by desires of its founder. This story has got no legends,myths or exaggeration. Everything was and is right now exactly as it is supposed to be. The family manufacture has become a production of the limited top brandy series. Just like it is the case with every true, family story, the distillery is nowdays led by its founder and his sons who are technology experts in the field of brandy production.

The Tok distillery saga is started by its owner and founder, Veroljub Ljuba Urosevic back in the 1970s. The magic begins on the property that is Ljuba’s heritage, situated on Mount Goc, in the village Brezna, where he, as a young technology engineer in the field of spirits planted his first of many autochtonous cultivars of plums.

Through distillery’s history the book of recipes for premium products was carefully written, page by page. Based on Ljuba’s knowledge the plum cultivars were attentively selected and the methods were wisely chosen.

In the technology of spirits, the Serbian plum brandy and the French cognac are considered the most perfect alcoholic liquors, based on their characteristics.

Tok is a modern distillery created as a result of the grandiose effort and indisputable knowledge by the syngery of the modern technologies and traditional recipe. The main asset we own are our technologists. Each of them is a specialist and two of them have earned a doctoral degree. We use the latest equipment while respecting the golden standards of the production processes at the same time. Brandy is not a mediate business for us, it is our profession.

In the last half a century the notion of brandy as an authentic product of our own has undeservingly been knocked off the pedestal of the world-class alcoholic drinks. Our mission is to breathe new life into this queen of liquors and so far we have been very successful. In the same manner and with the same passion we approach our goal to satisfy the criteria of the true enthusiasts of liquors which hide the history and tradition of the Balkans within its bottles.

FRESH FRUIT AS A BASIS

Our fruit

Plum plantations of Crvena Ranka, Pozegaca and Trnovaca as well as the combined characteristics of Cacanska rodna and Cacanska lepotica are the sole and fundamental ingredients of our brandies. We use the fruit from our own plantations where we grow nine plum cultivars altogether.

The influence of the conifers creates a unique microclimate which gives a special touch to our brandies. A completely controlled process of agro-technical measures and the hand-picking of plums in its full technological ripeness are essential for a high-quality brandy making. A production of the plum distillates is our field of specialty.

THE HEART OF PRODUCTION

A lot has changed in the making of liquor as noble as brandy is. The first distillation devices were made of dirt, i.e., baked clay and later metal. As a matter of fact, it all started with alembic.
Nowdays, we use a copper distillation device, first of its kind in Serbia, designed specifically for us. Double fractional distillation is a pole of the technological process used for derivation of the first-class distillates with a huge potential for a long-term aging.

For distillate nurture and aging we use barrels made of a century-old sessile oak trees grown on Mount Goc. The barrels have been made for half a century in the same cooperage by our request only. In this stage of the production process the oak tree which carries a unique microclimate of the mountain is significant for the character formulation of the plum brandy as well. In that way we stand out on the brandy market of the Balkans.

Each shot of the brandy is a unique combination of soil texture, warmth of the Sun, high-quality plums, traditional knowledge and love. The art of drinking is the art of enjoying life.
